Femme
I am the Queen of destruction
The Queen of Ice
And I revel in my seven sins
My Throne is my Sloth
And I slump forever in it
The Mirror is my Vanity
For I am haughty beyond measure
The Crown is my Lust
For I know you crave it
The Window is my Envy
For I do not have what I could
The Apple is my Greed
For I will always want another
The Mouth is my Wrath
For I will always speak my displeasure
The Coin is my Gluttony
For I have many more than I need
But I do not care
She is the Queen of Ice
And her Kingdom is a Broken Mind
A Story.
A peasant came to see her
_____wrapped in burlap skin
On a chain behind him, he brought a lion
_____scrawny and ragged with all-consuming hunger
The queen stared from a crystal throne,
_____basking in the light of satisfaction
The sight held no interest for her
_____And she turned the coin in her hand
_____Making eyes out the corner of her vision
_____Flirting with her own reflection
The man speaks
_____In his ragged beggar’s tongue
She cranes her head
_____And strains to understand him
_____Her ears stretching to their limit
He pleads
That much she can understand
But what does she care?
She who has enough to eat
The question is this:
_____A Solomon thing
Who has the right?
She sighs
Her reflection licks its lips
_____A suggestion has been offered
_____The tempt of a beautiful thing given to a monster that doesn’t know it’s such
_____Lust ripples up through her skin
A raised hand stops him in his sentence
And she waves him away with grim words
_____Let Nature decide
_____Lock them in a pit
_____He who wins will gain survival
The man throws himself down.
_____He cannot kill his pet
But neither will he simply die
_____As the Queen offered by interjection
_____And he is quick to reject
She shrugs
_____Her thoughts are captured by anticipation
Her words stand
Because she will waste no more time to consider an alternative
_____Throw them in a pit
_____Unchain the lion to make it fair
_____The Victor feeds
_____If no winner emerges, then one will be a feast to the other
_____He who claims title of Survivor
They are dragged away
The Bloody Queen forgets those she slays.
